Song Biography – “There Is More”

This song was inspired by a prophetic song the Lord gave me one Sunday morning when I was leading worship. He had been speaking to me for a while, through various avenues, about walking higher with Him and stepping out more in faith.

I was (am) by nature fearful and timid, and though I always believed that God could do anything, I always doubted that He would do anything through me. He encouraged me to start praying for the sick. I did with little results, which gave my faith a serious knock. But after I persevered I began to experience more and more miracles. This was thrilling for me. I felt that God was saying there is “so much more”. I felt that He was calling me to walk in the spirit and not by sight. I am constantly amazed at how serving God remains exciting after all these years. In fact, it is more exciting now than ever before.

In verse one I sing about a dream (“I heard Your voice in the night”) I had when I was still a student. I was walking on a path when it suddenly forked. My mother and siblings were walking ahead of me on the well-worn, level path we were on. I noticed the fork to the left of me went sharply uphill, and was not well established. I had a friend at the time, who had a radical faith in God, who was in the dream, encouraging me to take the left fork. This was obviously the high road. I decided to rather go the way everyone else was going and did not follow my friend. I realise now that I was too scared then to walk in faith, and rather did as everyone else was doing. It took many years for me to reach the point where I took the courage to take God at his word. I am tentatively stepping out more and more in this.

I feel the Lord wants to tell the church to not be complacent. Our walk with Him should remain exciting and fulfilling. We just need to step out and trust Him. And all this comes from a place of “feasting” with Him. This speaks of fellowship. In other words, having a genuine relationship with Him. When we know Him we will know who we are in Him. Then we will not doubt and will step out in love to help a hurting, sick world.

I hope this song encourages you to step out into the “more”.

Blessings,
Karah
