ART

I paint under the name “Karah”, which is the spiritual name that God gave me many years ago. I am a practicing medical professional and I paint in my free time. I also sing and write.

I always wanted to paint, and I finally decided to follow my passion a few years ago and started studying as many “How to paint in oils” books as possible, published by other artists. I have also attended two week long courses run by Willie Jacobs on portraiture and landscape painting, with a bit of still life. I also find it inspiring to watch other artists on You Tube, because nothing inspires creativity more than creativity.

I first started painting in acrylics, but quickly made the transition to oils, enjoying its forgiving nature, and slow drying time, which allows colour mixing on the canvas. I am inspired by the beauty of nature and people, and I try to capture this. I would describe my style as bold, fresh and vibrant. I am starting to venture into the world of abstract/symbolic art, but that is still a work in progress.

I have been exhibiting at the annual Hamlet Art Festival every year, for the past few years, and I also display my work in my business. I feel like I am only just beginning to develop my style and look forward to spending more time behind the easel to grow even more in this gifting. I hope to do prophetic painting one day (perhaps I already have).
