MUSIC
I have chosen to sing under the stage name “Karah”, which means “called out”. I live in the Western Cape of South Africa. I am currently a part-time singer-songwriter, worship leader, medical professional, painter, writer, wife, and mother of 2 grown up daughters.
I am an independent gospel artist. In 2012 my first album was produced by Johan Groenewald, called “Rivers in the Desert”, and contains 14 original tracks. Since then I released 6 singles, produced by Sven GH Blumer and Helmut Meijer. My latest 2 songs have been produced by Franco Gagiano of Upper Room Music Studio.
I have composed all my songs, but I honestly must say that they are all inspired by God (believe me, He astounded even me with what He gave me). All my songs have a story and come from a deep place in my heart, no, even deeper than that, from deep within my spirit. Since I was a little girl, I felt the call of God on my life. I was a happy child who sang all the time. I longed to play the piano, but finances did not allow for this. All I wanted was to be used by God, especially in singing. I joined the church worship team when I was 16 and began leading worship when I was about 20. At this tender time of my life I began singing with backing tracks (those old cassette tapes, cringe) and I sang at every opportunity that came my way. I only started going for piano and voice lessons at the age of 26. Over the years since then God has miraculously released more and more gifting. This included, to my great surprise, a gift of song-writing. This has developed and grown and has been a source of great joy.
As a medical professional I enjoy helping people who are suffering physically, and as a musician I hope to help people who are suffering spiritually.
I am humbled that God would use me in this way. I look forward to releasing more of the songs He has given me.
